To achieve our ambitious goal of net zero emissions by 2030, we are implementing a series of forward-thinking initiatives designed to reduce our carbon footprint and promote environmental responsibility. Here’s how we plan to make a lasting impact:
Installation of Solar Panels
We are launching a 1 MW solar panel project to reduce our reliance on the electricity grid. This project will be funded through a mix of bank financing and net cash accruals. As electricity is a major source of carbon emissions, this initiative will significantly lower our CBAM score, helping us to reduce our environmental impact.
Use of cleaner fuels for reheating furnaces
At Jyoti Steel, we operate both a billet reheating furnace and a strand annealing furnace. We are transitioning to cleaner fuels, such as CNG, to reduce carbon emissions while maintaining the quality of our materials. This shift will enable us to continue producing premium products in an environmentally responsible manner.
Use of electric trucks and cars
Our entire transportation process—moving raw materials and finished products —is powered by trucks. To further reduce emissions, we are transitioning to electric trucks, replacing traditional diesel and petrol- powered vehicles. We are currently in discussions with automobile manufacturers and expect to begin sourcing these trucks in the next 4 5 years, paving the way for a significant reduction in our carbon footprint.
